Mon 4th Jun 2018Cartier Queen’s Cup UpdatePlay continues at Guards Polo Club
In the past week, play has continued in The Cartier Queen’s Cup at Guards Polo Club. RH Polo began the week’s play, with a 10-7 victory against Spencer MacCarthy’s Emlor at Black Bears, with Valiente following swiftly with an 11-9 victory against The Hai Air Prince of Wales Trophy winning Monterosso. Talandracas secured a win on 31 May, 9-7 against the all-Brit El Remanso, who were yet to secure a victory in this year’s tournament, whilst Clinova secured their first win of the tournament against Andrey Borodin’s Park Place on 1 June, with a 10-8 final score. To begin the weekend’s play, La Indiana defeated La Bamba de Areco 10-9 on Saturday 2 June, thus taking the top position in Group Two. RH Polo and Valiente, both undefeated at this point in the tournament, came together to battle for the League One title. Following an exceedingly narrow match, the teams were tied 6-6 in the sixth chukka, but it was Guillermo ‘Sapo’ Caset who secured the win for RH Polo, who now remain the sole undefeated team in this year’s tournament. In the final day of play this week, Emlor and Les Lions, who had both already qualified for the next stages of The Cartier Queen’s Cup, battled for the win. Emlor dominated the play from the first chukka and secured the win 12-9. Play continues tomorrow, Tuesday 5 June, with La Bamba de Areco taking on Clinova at midday followed by El Remanso vs Park Place at 3pm. The league stages will then finish on Wednesday 6 June with Les Lions taking on Valiente at midday followed by Monterosso vs RH Polo at 3pm. The Quarter Finals will follow this weekend, with the Final scheduled for Sunday 17 June at 3pm. For more information about the tournament, please click here.
