Fri 22nd Mar 2019Susan G. Komen US Women’s Open ContinuesFinalists decided with Brits leading the charge
Despite the ongoing rain in Wellington, Florida, the Semi Finals of The Susan G. Komen US Women’s Open were played yesterday, Thursday 21 March, at Port Mayaca Polo Club. Eight teams had entered this year’s tournament, with famous faces from across the globe gathering for the exciting 22 goal show of polo prowess. Amongst the international lady players, four Brits, Hazel Jackson-Gaona, Izzy Parsons, Sarah Wiseman and world number one Nina Clarkin, found themselves on the team lists for the 2019 Semi Finals. In the first match of the day, Cabo Wabo narrowly defeated San Saba 6-5, securing the first coveted spot in the Final scheduled for Saturday 23 March. Nina Clarkin and the underhandicapped 21 goal Hawaii Polo Life, which sees her playing with team mate Mia Cambiaso with whom she secured the 2017 and 2018 Women’s Argentine Open titles, then secured their Finals spot with a 9-3 win against the young Crossfit El Cid team 9-3. The Final will take place at 11am tomorrow, with the two best British players once again coming up against each other for a title. The question remains, will Jackson-Gaona secure the title against Clarkin, or will Clarkin reign supreme? Watch this space! The Susan G.
