Wed 4th Mar 2020Scone Champion in FloridaThe Founders Cup Final
In the Final of The Founders Cup, the second instalment of the 2020 World Polo League, Scone championed over SD Farms, 11-6 to secure the title. The team led from the off, with Diego Cavanagh working valiantly alongside the father/son duo of Adolfo Cambiaso and his 14-year-old son Poroto, to jump on the three goal handicap springboard they began the game with (two goals on handicap and one extra as per the WPL rules), to create an insurmountable lead cushion. For his efforts, Adolfo Cambiaso was awarded the Most Valuable Player honours, whilst two of this ponies received accolades – Dolfina Antonela was named The American Horse Association Best Playing Pony of the Final, played by Poroto Cambiaso and The WPL Best Playing Pony rug went to Dolfina Resta, played by Juan Martín Zubía and owned by J5 La Dolfina Breeding. In the Subsidiary Final, The Wellington Cup, Marc Ganzi’s Richard Mille side defeated Grant Ganzi’s Casablanca, 14-13. A full report will follow in the April issue of Polo Times.
