Tue 4th Aug 2020Polo Times Out This Week!August issue arriving soon
It is hard to believe that it is August already, with The Cartier Queen’s Cup in full swing it feels more like mid-June than the start of August! Despite the ongoing restrictions limiting polo to be played behind closed doors with essentially, no spectators being allowed to watch, we have been working hard at Polo Times to bring you the latest reports, News, as well as our popular Knowledge pages, plus much more. On 22 July, the HPA made the exciting announcement that polo can continue at all levels in England (previously competitive polo had been limited to 8 goals and above) and the amount of polo being played, despite the ‘new normal’ conditions, is testament to the strength of the polo community. This issue of Polo Times includes reports from the historic King Power Gold Cup which saw two Argentine polo dynasties go head-to-head, The Warwickshire Cup which this year saw the Finals being played at Black Bears Polo Club rather than its usual home at Cirencester Park Polo Club due to Coronavirus implications, as well as the latest updates from the ongoing Victor and Victrix Ludorum, which sees players compete in a series of tournaments across England. We speak to Karl Ude Martinez about his passion for polo, commentating and rather unusually – medieval jousting! As always, and very much testament to the commitment of Polo Times’ contributors, our Knowledge pages are overflowing with information, with this issue including topics such as hydration, electrolytes, core strength and stability, the importance of the throw-in and how best to protect your hands from injury, plus much more!
