Mon 12th Apr 2021US Open ChampionshipsLa Indiana, Park Place and Scone reach Quarter Finals
This weekend, Saturday 10 April and Sunday 11 April, saw three out of the four US Open Quarter Finals played at International Polo Club Palm Beach, with the fourth Quarter Final postponed after less than three minutes of action due to bad weather. Saturday 10 April saw two matches: La Indiana vs Coca Cola and Park Place vs Cessna. La Indiana’s determined defence meant that although they conceded a number of penalties, they were able to hold off Coca Cola and secure themselves a 15-10 victory, with Polito Pieres scoring an impressive 11 goals. The second Quarter Final of the day saw Park Place lead from the outset, while Cessna had a fight on their hands to overcome the substitution of an injured Ezequiel Martínez Ferrario in the third chukka (replaced by Felipe Vercellino) and in the end suffered a 13-10 defeat. On Sunday 11 April, Scone had a strong first half which allowed them to resist a second half push by Tonkawa and retain the advantage to secure their Semi Final spot with a 10-6 win; Scone demonstrated an organised defence and a complete team performance. These results mean that so far, La Indiana, Park Place and Scone have qualified for the Semi Finals on Wednesday 14 April, with the last Semi Final spot still to be decided in the fourth Quarter Final match which is still to be played. The Finals are currently scheduled for Sunday 18 April.
