Tue 23rd Nov 2021Argentine Open Weekend WinsSurprise victory for La Ensenada against La Dolfina
It was a weekend of action over 20 – 21 November, with four matches played in total. Saturday 20 November saw Ellerstina put in a very strong performance against Alegria Fish Creek, with a final score of 22-7. The second match of the day was full of surprises as La Ensenada Brubank made history and beat La Dolfina Saudi, who have won the previous eight Argentine Open titles, by a narrow 12-11 margin. This result means that La Ensenada are level with Ellerstina as top of League A. The following day, Sunday 21 November, began with RS Murus Sanctus dominating Chapaleufú, 19-4, and continuing on their solid path to a place in the Final. The second match of the day and possibly the most anticipated of the weekend, was between two sets of cousins as La Natividad faced La Dolfina Brava, with the added excitement of a win required for La Natividad to keep their hopes alive. Until the fifth chukka the action was extremely close, with both teams trying to get ahead as the scores remained within a goal of each other. Poroto Cambiaso tied the scores at 10-10 in the sixth chukka, but a Castagnola comeback combined with the firepower of Polito Pieres meant that they were able to hold La Dolfina Brava back and secured themselves an 18-13 win.
