Mon 11th Jul 2022Gold Cup Semi Finals SetDubai vs Scone & Park Place vs Talandracas
The Quarter Finals for The British Open Polo Championship for The Cowdray Gold Cup were played over the weekend at Cowdray Park Polo Club in sizzling heat. On Saturday 9 July, the top-ranked Dubai Polo Team faced UAE which saw tournament top scorer, Camilo ‘Jeta’ Castagnola continue his fantastic performance, scoring 10 of his team’s goals, which saw Dubai take the first Semi Final spot following their 14-11 victory against UAE. The second match of the day between Great Oaks LL and Scone saw Scone’s defence combined with the father-son Cambiaso duo, proving too much to overcome for Great Oaks LL who lost out on a place in the Semi Finals, 10-7. The action continued on Sunday 10 July with both Park Place teams competing in the Quarter Finals. The first match, between Park Place and Marques de Riscal saw a convincing 15-11 win in favour of Park Place, with 16-year-old Louis Hine proving to be laser accurate when on goal. Unfortunately, a second win of the day was not on the cards for the Park Place organisation as Park Place Vaara lost out with a narrow 12-10 loss to Talandracas. These results mean that Wednesday’s Semi Finals are set as Dubai Polo Team vs Scone at 12pm for the Ellerston Cup and Talandracas against Park Place at 4pm for The Tramontana Cup.
