Tue 6th Aug 2024Polo Times August Issue Out NowBiggest issue of the year so far!
With so much polo being played across the country, it is little surprise that the August issue of Polo Times is our biggest of the year! The August issue wouldn’t be complete without coverage of The British Open Polo Championship for The Cowdray Gold Cup which this year saw 18 teams narrowed down to Dubai and La Dolfina Great Oaks for the Final. Whilst the match was a little one sided, the display of skill on show was impressive even to the untrained eye, and kudos to Cowdray Park Polo Club for attracting so many spectators to not only the Final but also the Quarter and Semi Finals too. Not so coincidentally, this issue’s Club Spotlight is on the home of the Cowdray Gold Cup and it is clear to see how far the Club has come since its early days as a small, country Club in 1910. We include a bumper Military Polo section with coverage from The Rundle Cup, The UK Pakistan Army Polo Tour, The Inter-Regimental Final and much more, indicating the strength and popularity of military polo. Report coverage also includes The Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup which raised £1,000,000 for 11 charities supported by HRH The Prince and Princess of Wales; Four Quarters’ fifth win in The Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Windsor Cup; 8,000 spectators at The British Beach Polo Championships and, of course, our Victor and Victrix Ludorum pages which include coverage from 10 reports from the 22 goal through to 4 goal. The Big Picture pages are always aimed at providing an interesting polo theme and this issue includes the talented Askild Winkelmann’s artwork on gold-infused silk canvases which allows the light reflected on the canvas to create a sense of movement which makes the animals come alive. We welcome a new Knowledge contributor, Nicki Marshall, a Certified Essential Somatics Movement Teacher who explains how Somatics can impact your riding – this will be continued in an ongoing series in which Nicki will give you step-by-step instructions on how to do Somatics at home. There is much, much more in this issue – why not gift a copy to a friend or family member so they can see for themselves? |
