Wed 7th Aug 2024Terralpa Silver Cup in Full Swing Action continues today with three matches in medium & low goal
The Terralpa Silver Cup, the second phase in The 53rd Andalusia International Polo Tournament, is in full swing at Sotogrande at Ayala Polo Club, Sotogrande.
Yesterday, Tuesday 6 August, saw multiple matches being played across all three handicap levels (low, medium and high).
The high goal (20-22) contest between Calatagan and ATL Marine & Energy, was a rematch The Sotogrande Bronze Cup Final and for ATL Marine & Energy, it was their first match of The Terralpa Silver Cup. ATL Marine & Energy had a near perfect first half with an 8-4 lead, but Calataga turned things around and came back to 8-9 with only half a chukka left to play. However 10 goaler Barto Castagnola saved the day and converted a penalty from 60 yards, which equalised the scores 9-9 and, in the next play, when the first bell had already rung, he took the ball and scored the winning goal, 10-9.
In the medium goal (12-14), Jolly Roger and Brunei faced each other, with both teams having suffered two losses in a row so far. The victory went to Jolly Roger, who won 8-7.
Meanwhile, in the low goal (6-8), there were victories for 1896 Polo and Polo Valley, against Essso and Grupo Mendizábal, respectively.
The action for the Terralpa Silver Cup will resumes today, Wednesday 7 August, with three matches: 6-8 goal: Calatagan vs La Capilla & IQ Polo Team vs C. H. Kazuki and 12-14 goal: John Smith vs Electric Polo.
