131st Hurlingham Open Underway

La Natividad & La Hache Qualify for Semi Finals

The 2024 Argentine Triple Crown kicked off on Tuesday 24 September with two matches at the Argentine Association of Polo Headquarters, in Pilar. Eight teams up to 40 goals are competing in the 131st Hurlingham Open which is being played in direct elimination.

The first match saw the newly formed 40 goal La Natividad line-up dominate against La Hache Cría & Polo, with a 4-1 lead in the opening chukka which by half-time they had managed to increase to 15-5. La Hache Cría & Polo tried their best to stem the flow of goals, but with 12 from Jeta Castagnola alone, they were battling uphill and La Natividad took the win 27 goals to 12.

The second match of the day saw recent winners of the 59th. Jockey Club Open for The Thai Polo Cup, La Hache, versus last year’s Hurlingham Open finalists Cría La Dolfina. The opening two chukkas were evenly matched but La Hache started to pull away in the third chukka and continued to maintain possession. Polito Pieres scored an impressive 15 goals and helped to lead La Hache to their 20-12 win which secured them their place in the Semi Final.
