Mon 21st Oct 202484th Tortugas Open Action UpdateEllerstina end La Natividad’s winning streak & La Ensenada beat La Dolfina
The 84th Tortugas Open continued over the weekend with four matches at the Tortugas Country Club. On Saturday 19 October, the action began with Indios Chapaleufu vs Cría La Dolfina and although Cría La Dolfina took an early 4-0 lead halfway into the first chukka, Indios Chapaleufu fought back and the match was closely fought between the two sides. Indios Chapaleufu just managed to hold onto a narrow one goal margin to win the match, 14-13. The second match of the day saw a clash between the current reigning champions, Ellerstina and recent Hurlingham Open winners, La Natividad. Ellerstina played the perfect match to defeat a team who with a handicap of 40 goals, seemed unbeatable. They committed very few fouls, and to top it off they forced their rival to commit too many fouls, which Sapo Caset – the tournament's top scorer with 23 goals – had no problem converting into goals and Ellerstina took the win, 16-14. The action continued the following day, Sunday 20 October, with two League B games. La Hache and La Ensenada claimed victories over La Hache Cría & Polo and La Dolfina Saudi, respectively. La Hache remains unbeaten and leads League B. Despite their impressive win, thanks to an overtime goal from Alfredo Bigatti, La Ensenada will not advance to the championship match due to goal difference, which favours La Dolfina Saudi (+30 for La Dolfina Saudi, +24 for La Ensenada). The Tortugas Open will continue this weekend with Indios Chapaleufu vs Ellerstina and La Natividad vs Cría La Dolfina on Saturday 26 October and La Hache Cría & Polo vs La Ensenada and La Dolfina Saudi vs La Hache on Sunday 27 October.
