El Overo Z7 UAE Secure VIII Women’s Argentine Open

10-7 win against La Dolfina in Palermo

The 2024 Women’s Argentine Open celebrated its eighth edition in 2024, with four teams between 27 and 36 goals made up of the best players from Argentina, the United States, France and England competing for a place in the Final of the prestigious tournament.

On Saturday 7 December, El Overo Z7 UAE and La Dolfina, who between them have won all seven previous titles went head-to-head on Field 2 of the Campo Argentino de Polo, Palermo. The evenly matched teams were tied at 1-1 after the second chukka, but 2023 defending champions El Overo Z7 UAE began to pull ahead in the third chukka. However, the 2023 finalists La Dolfina, found their feet in the fifth chukka thanks to excellent penalty taking by Lía Salvo and the tenacity of Mía Cambiaso, later named Most Valuable Player, and the gap closed to 7 goals to 5. El Overo Z7 UAE continued to push ahead in the sixth and final chukka, outscoring their opponents 3 goals to 2 to secure the win 10-7 and defend their 2023 title for another year.
