Wed 23rd Apr 2025Tonkawa Lift WPL Triple Crown of Polo 11-9 win against Casablanca
The fourth and final tournament of the 2025 World Polo League – The Triple Crown of Polo – concluded on Saturday 19 April at Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida. Four teams up to 26 goals, the highest level played in the US, took part in the tournament from 9 – 19 April with some of the top names in polo such as Tomás Panelo, Juan Martín Nero Nero, Gonzalito Pieres, Rufino Bensadón, Sapo Caset and Juan Martín Zubía.
Tonkawa led throughout the first half, but Casablanca mounted a comeback after half-time with Sapo Caset scoring seven goals to bring Casablanca within just one goal, 9-8. However, Tonkawa found another gear and produced two crucial goals to secure them an 11-9 win. This was Tonkawa’s second 2025 WPL title having also won The Palm Beach Open, while Casablanca had already secured The All-Star Challenge and The Founders Cup.
