Mon 23rd Feb 2026The Ylvisaker Cup Goes to Catamount A close Final seals second NPC 16 Goal Championship tournament
It was a close and thrilling Final on Sunday 22 February as Catamount triumphed over Zapican BMW to take home the second of the four-part tournament series that makes up the NPC 16 goal Championship. It was one Cambiaso in for another as son Poroto took father Adolfo’s place to line up next to his sister for the Final played at The National Polo Center in Wellington, Florida.
While things started evenly in the first couple of chukkas, it was all Catamount from there on out as they pulled away in the third and built on their 10-7 half-time lead in the second half. It seemed like a done deal going into the last at 11-9, but Zapican BMW refused to go down without a fight, pulling back to within a goal and pushing Catamount into their first defensive role of the game to assuage the Zapican BMW attack. Catamount held strong however and maintained their lead to lift the trophy high with a 13-12 win which sealed their undefeated 7-0 run through the 15 team tournament.
Santiago Torres had a strong game, earning his Most Valuable Player Award while Best Playing Pony went to Dolfina Alula, ridden by Poroto Cambiaso and owned by La Dolfina.
