Mon 21st Mar 2016IGO Adventures’ Inaugural Event Completed Viscount Bobby Melville’s Adventure Challenge Company IGO Launches with World’s First Four-Day, Four-Discipline 108 Mile Expedition
Adventure Challenge Company, IGO Adventures launched last week with its inaugural event, the N60 Norwegian Challenge. Over four days, competitors crossed 108 miles of Norway's most spectacular landscape on foot, fat bikes and skis in the very first event of its kind.
Pioneering four-day, four-discipline life-changing challenges in some of the world’s most remote wildernesses, Founder Viscount Bobby Melville, inspired by his 48-day voyage rowing across the Atlantic Ocean to win the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge and world record-breaking explorer George Bullard led the charge on the expedition through a land synonymous with adventure and home to the Heroes of Telemark raid.
With participants ranging from Olympic athletes and ex-special forces to business men and women looking for the ultimate challenge, those seeking to compete or complete were equally encouraged.
Polo Times’ very own intrepid reporter, 24-year-old Rosabella Hine took on the challenge. Having only just returned from the searing heat of Indonesia, Rosabella’s training was affected by contracting Dengue Fever recently. Infected coral cuts and mosquito bites added to her problems. Despite her reservations, she had the stamina to complete the course, testament to the unwavering race support and morale-boosting mentoring of the expert IGO team. Rosabella sums up the experience with the words, “This was a life-changing experience, it is amazing what your body can achieve if you put your mind to it. If you are young, old, fit or just doggedly determined, this is one for the bucket list.”
The four separate marathon-length stages of this snowy quadrathlon – spanning from Hemsedal to Geilo – comprised of touring and downhill skiing on day one, fat biking on day two, cross-country skiing on day three and finally, a marathon run to a finish line at the Vestilia Resort.
Reflecting on the event Bobby Melville told Polo Times, “IGO has now completed its first event – N60. I started this company with a dream to change people’s lives as mine was when crossing the Atlantic in 2015. The emotion I felt when seeing our courageous competitors crossing the finish line will be something that will never leave me. The competitors have been on a journey they will never forget and the memories and friendships made will last a lifetime.”
