Mon 17th Mar 2025USPA Gold Cup Semi Finalists Brookshire vs Coca-Cola & La Dolfina Catamount vs Park Place on Wednesday 19 March
Over the weekend 15 – 16 March, The USPA Gold Cup Quarter Finals were played at the National Polo Center in Wellington. Just one Quarter Final was played on Saturday 15 March with a family contest between Poroto and Adolfo Cambiaso as La Dolfina Catamount went up against recent C.V. Whitney Cup winners, La Dolfina Tamera. In a predictably very close match, the score went right down to the wire with La Dolfina Catamount deciding the outcome in the last chukka and securing a narrow 12-11 win.
Sunday 16 March was a busy day of polo at NPC with three Quarter Finals – those not lucky enough to be in Wellington were able to watch the action live via the USPA’s Polo Network Livestream on Youtube. Brookshire dominated Clearwater with a conclusive 13-5 win; Park Place and La Fe Eastern Hay battled it out with Park Place finding their form to pull ahead and secure a 14-8 despite a whistle heavy match; Coca-Cola rounded off the weekend with a 12-8 victory against Dutta Corp. Coca-Cola’s win also secured them the 2025 Tommy Hitchcock Memorial Trophy which was played for the first time as a NPC feature match and honours Tommy Hitchcock Jr. – an American war hero and polo player.
This means that the Semi Finals of The USPA Gold Cup will be played on Wednesday 19 March with Brookshire vs Coca-Cola (1pm local time/5pm UK time) and La Dolfina Catamount vs Park Place (3pm local time/7pm UK time). The Final is scheduled for Sunday 23 March.
