Mon 10th Jan 2022Beverly Polo Lifts Iglehart CupFirst Final of IPC’s season
And we’re off! The first Final of the IPC 2022 season on the U.S. Polo Assn. Field at the International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) was played on Saturday 2 January. The Iglehart Cup Final featured Beverly Polo vs La Fe in an extra chukka match which saw the scores tied frequently throughout and an injury (although he was able to remain in the match) for La Fe team patron, Louis Devaleix. Beverly Polo secured an initial advantage via early penalty opportunities and by half-time held a 6-3 advantage, however La Fe stormed back in the fourth chukka with three unanswered goals to equalise the scores. The two sides traded more goals and as they battled to gain the lead, the final was pushed into over-time, with Diaz Alberdi scoring the golden goal for Beverly Polo. Jorge ‘Tolito’ Ocampo Jr. was chosen as the Most Valuable Player after scoring eight goals in total and Francisco Elizalde’s nine-year-old chestnut mare Taita Milesima (Open Illuminado x Ellerstina Illusionada) was the Best Playing Pony.
