The first leg of the 2024 Gauntlet of Polo, The C.V. Whitney Cup, began on Friday 9 February at the National Polo Center, in Wellington, Florida. The tournament has eight teams up to 22 goals competing across four leagues with the Final scheduled for Sunday 25 February. The opening day of the tournament saw a 12-10 win for Coca Cola against 2023 C.V. Whitney champions Valiente and a narrow 11-10 win for Tamera against La Fe. The following day, Saturday 10 February, saw two more matches: Park Place vs Pilot and La Dolfina vs Dutta Corp. In the initial match of the day, Park Place’s Andrey Borodin was replaced by Josh Escapite and Gonzalo Deltour stepped in for Pilot's Facundo Pieres after he was injured during practice and has announced he won’t be competing in the tournament, but despite their changes both sides fought hard for their first win, with Park Place edging ahead, 16-12. La Dolfina achieved a convincing 14-9 win over Dutta Corp despite Quinn Evans replacing La Dolfina's Rufino Merlos. The action continues tomorrow with Valiente vs Tamera and Coca Cola vs La Fe.
