Things heated up over the weekend out in Wellington, Florida as we head into the final week of qualifying rounds for the USPA Gold Cup ahead of next week’s Semi Finals. The second tournament in the Gauntlet of Polo series played at The National Polo Center has been underway since the beginning of March and sees 10 teams compete for the prestigious title.
With a busy schedule of matches resulting in non-stop action, it was weekday wins for The Dutta Corp (13-12 against Clearwater), Park Place (14-8 against Coca Cola), La Dolfina/ Scone (15-11 against Clinova The Sandbox), The Dutta Corp (11-10 against BTA) and Clearwater (14-12 against DUS).
Over the weekend La Dolfina/ Scone maintained their unbeaten record after defeating Park Place 16-13, while Sunday Polo wins went to La Dolfina/ Tamera, Pilot and BTA.
Pilot also remains unbeaten, rivalling La Dolfina/ Scone with a 3-0 win record while C.V Whitney Cup winners The Dutta Corp have succumbed to one defeat, as have La Dolfina/ Tamera. It’s all to play for heading into the final rounds of qualifiers on Wednesday and Thursday as the teams fight for their place in the Semi Finals being played on Wednesday 25 March.
