On Sunday 20 April, the National Polo Center in Wellington, Florida, hosted 2025 U.S. Open Polo Championship Final, the final leg of the Gauntlet of Polo series.
The match marked the second consecutive year that Adolfo Cambiaso and his son, Poroto Cambiaso, faced off in the US Open Final – Adolfo playing for La Dolfina/Tamera and Poroto representing La Dolfina/Catamount, the defending champions alongside teammate Rufino Merlos. La Dolfina/Tamera came into the Final having already won the first tournament of the Gauntlet of Polo – The C.V. Whitney Cup.
The match opened with a close first half. La Dolfina/Tamera had a narrow edge early on, but La Dolfina/Catamount levelled the scores at 6-6 by the end of the third chukka. The momentum shifted in the fourth chukka, when La Dolfina/Tamera kept their opponents scoreless and began to pull away. Alejandro Poma stepped up with a strong performance, scoring four goals in total and earning Most Valuable Player honours.
Although La Dolfina/Catamount continued to press in the final stages, La Dolfina/Tamera held firm. Leading 10-7 going into the sixth and final chukka, they added two more goals to secure a 12-8 win and The U.S. Open Polo Championship title.
It was a milestone win for Adolfo Cambiaso, who celebrated his tenth U.S. Open Polo title, surpassing the previous record of nine held by Carlos Gracida. Dolfina Binter, played by Adolfo Cambiaso was chosen as the Best Playing Pony.
