Gaston Polo Team rounded off an outstanding British high goal campaign on Sunday 10 August by defeating Jehangiri Polo 8-7 in The Prince of Wales's Championship Cup Final at Guards Polo Club, securing their second major high goal title of the season following last month's St. Regis British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup victory.
Played on The Queen's Ground, the Final saw Gaston take a commanding early lead before a comeback from Jehangiri in the third saw them back in the game. Gaston were forced into a defensive role, remaining goalless for the final two chukkas as they tried to keep Jehangiri’s attacking onslaught at bay. Despite the scoreline creeping ever closer, Gaston managed to hold their nerve in the closing stages to edge a determined Jehangiri side by a single goal and complete a memorable campaign.
Cruz Heguy was once again named Most Valuable Player after another outstanding performance, while the Images of Polo Best Playing Pony prize went to Flogera Garapata, played by Louis Hine in the second chukka. This title makes it an almost clean sweep across the season for the Hine siblings who now boast four of the UK’s highest goal titles among the three polo playing siblings. Louis Hine won The Warwickshire Cup alongside sister Milly, while eldest brother Ned took home The Trippett’s Challenge Cup and The Cartier Queen’s Cup.
This is also a full house for Trippetts who have now hosted the winners of: The Trippetts Challenge and Queen’s Cup (Balanz/ La Hechicera); The Gold Cup and The Prince of Wales Cup (Gaston) and The British Ladies Open (Yaguara).
Earlier in the day, Bangash claimed The Prince of Wales's Championship Cup Subsidiary Final, defeating Shoreline 8-7 on The Princes' Ground.
With victories in both the British Open Gold Cup and The Prince of Wales's Championship Cup, Gaston finish the 2026 UK high goal season as winners of two of the country's most prestigious 22 goal tournaments, an impressive feat in only their third year of high goal campaigns.
