Following two days of world class polo action, Finals’ Day dawned at Singureni Manor on Sunday 27 September for the climax of the three-day tournament and the battle for the 2026 Singureni Manor Polo Cup. Now in its third year, the Singureni Manor Polo Cup has firmly established itself as one of Romania's most sought-after autumn fixtures.
The day’s action began with the Subsidiary Final between OSCAR Downstream/Singureni Manor Polo Club, Romania vs CORINTHIA/SASS’ Restaurant & Lounge/Evviva Polo Club, St. Moritz with the home team sneaking a victory 9-8 after a tightly contested match in which neither side was relinquishing possession easily.
After a short break in which the crowds were delighted by an Arabian Horse Show, showcasing the exceptional, prize-winning Arabian bloodlines which are bred at Singureni Manor, it was time for the Final between AQUA Carpatica/Red Star Polo Team, UK vs CARPATHIAN/Norddeutscher Polo Club, Germany.
Both teams entered the Final undefeated after an intense weekend of polo and each side boasted their own unique advantage: CARPATHIAN/Norddeutscher Polo Club, Germany, had brought their own horses all the way from Germany, arguably giving them the equine edge, while AQUA Carpatica/Red Star Polo Team, UK, were well accustomed to playing together and already had top titles under their belt from across the globe earlier in the season.
Mikey Henderson, who has been one of the standout players of the tournament, opened the first chukka with back-to-back goals that set the tone for the match. AQUA Carpatica/Red Star Polo Team, UK, played with their trademark tenacity, mounting a relentless attack to score four goals in the opening chukka. CARPATHIAN/Norddeutscher Polo Club, Germany, defended tirelessly, finding the target themselves before eventually getting a handle on the UK side's attack. For sponsor AQUA Carpatica’s CEO Jean Valvis, the patience paid off: after two years of settling for silver, they finally claimed top spot on the podium with a well-earned 8-3½ victory.
Mikey Henderson was named Most Valuable Player; Christian Grimme received the Best Playing Patron prize and Canario Macho, played and owned by Lukas Sdrenka, was awarded the Best Playing Pony Award.
