A RECORD NUMBER of guests - 410 people - attended Wednesday night's Audi Polo Awards at Coworth Park. Zacara scooped two awards - the first for best high-goal team of last season and the team's patron, Lyndon Lea, was also named best high-goal patron. Three British players also took home awards: Ollie Cudmore for best low-goal player; James Beim for most outstanding British professional, and Lucy Taylor for best female player. Sebastian Merlos, who saw his handicap move up from nine-goals to 10-goals in the UK at the end of last season, picked up the most outstanding high-goal professional award. This year's two lifetime achievement awards went to Jim Haigh and the late Alec Harper. This year's new award for the most outstanding contribution to world polo went to Jim Gilmore.
