Wed 30th May 2012El Remanso continue to impress in Queen's CupHanbury boys win again as fellow Brits Salkeld and Belmont Farm lose in the Queen's Cup
Yesterday marked a big day for many of the British players participating in this year’s Cartier Queen’s Cup, with George and Charlie Hanbury’s El Remanso taking on Nick Clarke’s Salked, and the all-British Belmont Farm playing Dubai. El Remanso followed up their strong showing in their first match against hotly-tipped Zacara with another sterling performance against Salked at Coworth Park, winning 8-6. El Remanso got off to a bright start, scoring three goals in the opening chukka. They continued to assert their dominance throughout the rest of the match and, despite a spirited display from Salked in the final chukka, El Remanso went on to win the match by two goals. The Hanbury boys now sit at the top of League Three and are well-placed to progress to the quarter finals. Belmont Farm – Malcolm Borwick, Satnam Dhillon, George Meyrick and Ryan Pemble – were looking to make amends after their opening round defeat to Les Lions. However, they were comfortably brushed aside by Dubai who were back on song after their loss to Cortium last week. Cambiaso and co ran out 13-8 winners. The Queen’s Cup continues today with Les Lions, featuring Matt Perry, pitted against Adrian Kirby’s Cortium while Saudi Zedan play Ayala in today's other match. Picture: El Remanso's George Hanbury.
