Mon 14th Apr 2025English High Goal Teams & Dates 19 teams set to compete
As the American high goal culminates for another year, the international polo circuit moves onto English shores. With the English 22 goal hosted at some of the most prestigious polo clubs, glimpses of royalty and some of the top names in polo, the next few months promise edge of your seat action. Nine homegrown players are competing in the English 22 goal this year, a number which still leaves room for improvement but Signet Thai Polo are certainly a team actively supporting English talent with the Hine brothers and Tommy Severn teaming up again – no doubt Ned and Louis Hine will be looking to recreate their 2021 Gold Cup success. Hazel Jackson is the only English female professional and will be playing for Dubai, the other confirmed English players are Matt Perry (White Crane), James Harper (Jehangiri); Tommy Beresford (King Power); Ollie Cudmore (Sujan Tigers) and Mark Tomlinson (Sona Polo).
19 teams have been confirmed for the upcoming 22 goal season which begins in May with The Trippetts Challenge (7 – 17 May) and The Justerini & Brooks Prince of Wales Trophy (3 – 17 May), followed by The Cartier Queen’s Cup (20 May – 15 June), The Warwickshire Cup (12 – 21 June), The British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup (24 June – 20 July) and finishing with The Aston Martin Prince of Wales’ Championship Cup (27 July – 10 August).
Ferne Park is the only team to repeat their 2024 line-up, while Calatagan, Jehangiri and Kazak all make their debuts. This year will also see the return of David Paradice’s Scone under the title of La Dolfina Scone for The Cartier Queen’s Cup.
The next issue of Polo Times includes the English High Goal Guide, complete with team analysis (to renew your subscription, call 01452 730770). Below are the 19 teams who will be competing this year, but with some teams competing in standalone high goal tournaments or a combination of 22 goal tournaments, these have been indicated.
