Wed 27th Jun 2012Ellerston bounce back with Gold Cup victory Jamie Packer's side beat highly fancied El Remanso at Cowdray Park
Jamie Packer’s Ellerston recorded their first UK high-goal victory in three years after beating El Remanso in the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup yesterday.
Competing in the Gold Cup for the first time since 2009, Ellerston lost their opening game against reigning champions Zacara last week, but bounced back in style on Tuesday by beating Queen’s Cup semi-finalists El Remanso 14-13 at Cowdray Park.
In yesterday’s other game Zacara showed that they will once again be one of the teams to beat in this year’s Gold Cup as they picked up their second win of the campaign against an impressive Enigma side. Lyndon Lea’s Zacara edged a competitive match 13-12.
